Christmas at Methow Valley United Methodist Church

At Christmas, we remember that Jesus was born
in a simple stable because there was no room in the inn.
No matter how simple—or complicated!—our homes,
our hearts, and our lives may be

God is with us.

In this season of darkness and drawing inward,
what takes up space in us
such that there is “no room in the inn”?
How can we make room for th
e
Light of the World
to be born anew in our midst this Christmas?

We begin by making space for
Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love
in our own hearts.

You’re invited to join us at
Methow Valley United Methodist Church
this season of Advent as we explore what it means
to make room—in ourselves, in our church,
n our community, and in our world—so that we can
experience God’s presence and light.

Sunday morning worship at 10:00 a.m.
Christmas Eve worship at 7:00 p.m.

  • December 1, First Sunday of Advent: Making Room for Hope
  • December 8, Second Sunday of Advent: Making Room for Peace
  • December 15, Third Sunday of Advent: Making Room for Joy
  • December 22, Fourth Sunday of Advent: Making Room for Love
  • December 24, Christmas Eve Candlelight Service: Making Room for Light

What to Expect

At MVUMC, we are a group of people with diverse faith backgrounds who believe that each day is a gift and an opportunity to begin again. We are a United Methodist church, but our community includes people from many faith backgrounds or no faith background at all. We welcome everyone to join us for worship, community, and connection.

What to Expect

Our worship may be traditional, but we aren’t formal. Feel free to come in your jeans or trail clothes, or your Sunday best. Whatever is comfortable for you is fine with us!

Plan to join us after worship for informal fellowship with hot coffee, tea, cider, or cocoa. We often have goodies to share, too, and we always have a warm welcome for friends old and new.

We have plenty of parking, and our entrance and building are fully accessible with no ramps, stairs, or curbs. There are double doors throughout the church and accessible stalls in the bathroom. We also have hearing assistance devices available. If you have accessibility needs, please reach out and let us know how we can help.

Children are welcome! From infant to teen, all are welcome to be in the sanctuary for worship. We believe that the coos and cries of little ones add to our worship and are not a distraction but a blessing. Busy toddlers are welcome to wander around our space and explore as we sing, pray, and worship. Older children are welcomed with a special bag stocked with activities to keep them busy through the service. Our community elders love to welcome God’s children of all ages!

For those who need a little privacy, we have a hugging room off the sanctuary with a one-way window, audio, and comfortable chair. Little ones can snuggle or play while caregivers watch, listen, and participate in worship. For the busiest little people who need a little more space, we also have a full nursery with lots of toys.
